Korg T1 Disks

Korg T1 Sound library collections for the T-Series

It was common for the synthesiser manufactures of the late 1980's and 1990's to issue sound libraries to support their instruments.  These were distributed on cartridges that plugged into the instruments, ROM (Read Only Memory) cards that slotted into a card reader attached to the instruments and disks that could be loaded using the onboard disk drives of instruments produced mainly post 1990.

Korg was no different to the other manufacturers and released a series of disks sorted into collections or libraries for the Korg T1 and other synthesisers in the T-Series Range.  They have continued this through to Kronos although these are now downloaded and loaded by USB thumb drives.

Korg TRam TSD 01 - 10

There were 11 disks issued as part of the initial collection that was released.

  • TSD-00PI - T1 Factory Sounds

The first disk in the series was the disk that allowed you to reload the Korg T1 back to the sounds that were loaded by Korg when new.  This disk includes 100 Combinations and 200 Program Sounds.  I believe that this disk was included in the box when the synthesiser was new.  Of course, over the years the many Korg T1 (T-Series) have been separated from this original disk.  If you own a Korg T1 this is a disk that you need to own!

  • TSD-01 - SYNTH

  • TSD-02 - DRUMS

  • TSD-03 - COMBINATION 1

  • TSD-04 - COMBINATION 2

  • TSD-05 - COMBINATION 3

  • TSD-06 - FRETTED INSTS

  • TSD-07 - ETHNIC

  • TSD-08 - SOUND EFFECTS

  • TSD-09 - ENVIRONMENT

  • TSD-10 - VOICE

The next 10 disks were issued through the dealer network during the synthesisers first year of production. Each disk contained about 20 new combinations loaded into positions C00 to C20.  The remaining combination slots would be the combinations that were on the Korg T1 prior to load.

The disks also load 100 programs into the A-bank.  The B-bank remains as it was prior to loading the disk.

Korg TRam Workdisk TSD-101 - TSD-110

Korg also release a second set of 10 disks.  You might hear these referred to as the German or European disk collection.  These were more European based sounds for the contemporary European music scene at the point of release.  Like the TSD-01 to TSD-10 these disks provided about 20 combinations and 100 programs into Bank A.

These were numbered TSD-101 to TSD-110 and simply titled Workdisk 1 to Workdisk 10.

Korg Keyboard Collection

This 3 disks collection put together a series of Korg T1 sounds related to the name of the disk.  Again, these were about 10 combinations on the disk theme plus 10 combinations that complement the theme.  And then 100 Programs which support the combinations that have been delivered. Some of the tones on these disks may have been included on previous disks.

Korg TRam Live sets

This was a collection of 4 disks that were designed to provide the gigging musician with sets of sounds that could be loaded into the T-series before you went on stage.  Following the disk layout of other disks, you got 20 combinations and 100 programs into Bank A.

These 4 disks were simply called Live 1 thru Live 4.

Korg TSD-301

The Korg TSD-301 is a single disk.  And in truth I am not sure where this disk came from.  You don't see this disk floating around very often.  This disk as a single disk contains 100 programs in both the A and B banks and 100 combinations based on these programs.

If you play music in the style of the 1980's or 1990's and if you don't get any of the other disks, then you should buy this one.
