Setup and Configure
I have mentioned many times on my YouTube channel that the Roland MX-1 is the mixed up mixer. People really don't understand where this mixer fits within their setup, being DAW based or DAWless.
A lot of this confusion is the mixture of inputs and functions that the Roland MX-1 provides the user with.
Do you want to operate the mixer as a mixer (and why would you want to do that)? As a surface integrated to your favoured DAW? Or as an input to your computer setup? The latter being the mode that I operate my MX-1 mixer in.
Is this device the master clock source or a slave to another device?
Are you going to operate the MX-1 mixer as a USB hub?
Do you want to operate the MX-1 Mixer with you current brand of computer?
I have had to answer many of these questions when I integrated the Roland MX-1 mixer into my setup. I initially purchased the MX-1 Mixer to act as the bridge between the Roland TR-8, Roland TB-3 and Roland System-1 instruments that natively integrate with the MX-1 mixer using 3 of the 4 USB sockets that are on the rear of the unit. But then found other uses for the MX-1 Mixer.
Over the past few years I have recorded a number of videos covering various aspects of setting up and configuring my Roland MX-1. The links to these video are below on this page.
I had an issue with my MAC resulting in it having to have a number of applications and drivers re-installed.
I though that this was a great opportunity to film how to install the MX-1 drivers onto the computer, which are required to be able to use this instrument / mixer with it in any form.
Here is to the process I followed for to re-install the MX-1 drivers.

The MX-1 is a quirky mixer with a number of configurations depending on how you think you will work with this tool.
It is billed as an 18 channel mixer, but not a classic 18 channels but a mixture of multi-format inputs that add up to 18 channels, many of which are stereo, which reduced the inputs available down to 11 sources.
I have tried the MX-1 with a number of settings and this video goes through a number of the settings I have changed on my MX-1 to install it into my studio.
I do not use this mixer in its surface configuration as frankly I couldn't get on with it!
