Firmware update
The Roland TR-08 is no different to any of the other software driven boutique instrumentthat were launched by Roland.
At the point of launch the instrument contained either bugs and / or was missing features that were included in the promotional literature that were not included in the the base firmware release.
Typically immediately following the release of the instrument Roland would have released a firmware update. This post release version of the firmware is the version that should be installed installed on the instrument as the minimum version.
Following release a few additional features have been added like being able to use the instrument as a clock source and integration with Serato.
My advice to anyone who owns a TR-08 is to upgrade the instrument to the latest version of the software that was released by Roland.
How to update the TR-08 to the latest version of the firmware. The unit ships with version 1.02 and the point of recording the current release is version 1.03.
The latest release version is 1.08. And the procedures outlined in this video are still the same.
