Instruments and Equipment by Korg Inc.

Korg Inc. was founded as Keio Electronic Laboratories in 1962.  The company producing its first rhythm device the following year in 1963.

Although Korg has developed and release several notable electronic instruments over the years, it could be argued that the development of the M1 Workstation changed the synthesiser market forever.  At the point of launch it surpassed the competition by creating a workstation, synthesiser, sequencer, drum machine.  This changed the market and the expectations of musicians.

Further instruments were released by the by the company over the years, but it was known for its solid workstations with the T1, 01/W, Trinity, Triton, M3 and OASYS all pushing the bar at the point of release.  Following the release of these instruments the other manufacturers in this space took several years to catch up.

More recently the Korg Kronos workstation was seen as the go to synthesiser and workstation for many musicians that needed a versatile platform to work with.

Following my divorce, I acquired a Korg M1R and was absolutely blown away by how good it sounded after nearly thirty years.  I was then lucky enough to acquire a non-working M1 keyboard.  The second M1 acquisition required a road trip over the Severn Bridge here in the UK to Wales where I found this keyboard located in a church storage cupboard.  As it turned out the non-working-ness was an easy fix.  I put new battery into the keyboard and reloading the factory settings.  It was quickly back up and running.

The sounds created by these initial acquisitions drove me to acquire a T1, OASYS and my favourite keyboard the Kronos over the intervening years.
