Roland D-70 Synthesiser
General Information
I recorded some videos covering off some of the common questions that I get asked about the Roland D-70 Synthesiser.
The video topics that I have filmed are listed below with links to the relevant videos stored on my YouTube channel.
Performing a factory reset on the D-70 using the factory reset card
Finding out what version of the firmware you are running on your D-70
Listening to what the D-70 was capable of when put in the hands of one of Roland's demo wizards.
I also get asked a lot whether I will be willing to supply my copy of the Roland D-70 SYSEX file. The answer is yes, but!
The but being a $10 dollar donation to the running of the website and channel and I will send the SYSEX through to you by e-mail. Use the contact form at the foot of the page.
The Roland D70 is a very under rated keyboard and to be honest could have been so much better. There are a number of reasons why you might want to check the firmware on the D-70. Least of which is to upgrade to the latest firmware Roland released before the synth was discontinued.
This is how you do it.

The D-70 was the last of the D-series, although really it is not a D series synth and the circuitry inside suggests this started life as the U-50, a romper of the D-50.
At some point you are likely going to reload the factory presets. Possibly after changing the battery. This is how I restored the factory presets from a factory card.
Please note this is video deals with reloading from the factory card. However these are becoming very scarce.
For reloading via SYSEX please refer to another video released in early 2021 link in the D-70 SYSEX section of this website.
