Instruments and Equipment by Behringer

Behringer was established by Uli Behringer in 1989.  At the time Uli described himself as a struggling musician and studio engineer.

Uli had been building equipment for many years prior to the formation of the his company.  He build his first synthesiser, the UB-1 in 1977 to meet his need for a synthesiser to undertake a music project that he was working on at the time.  This build what you need philosophy was continued into his own studio where he stated he couldn't afford to purchase the branded studio equipment being used by his peers.  So when he needed it, he designed it and built it to his own specification.  Word spread and he began building equipment for other people in the musical industry.

Starting from a kitchen table.  Uli started to look at how he could scale production.  He soon discovered that the Chinese in a desire to attract foreign investment had invested heavily in production automation, which allowed their facilities to scale production quickly around new products and allowing those products to scale quickly.  This started the relationship with production facilities based in China.  The philosophy which has carried through to today is to produce a product at an affordable price.

Behringer is seen as a disrupter in the musical instrument and musical equipment space.  A statement that I definitely wouldn't disagree with.  The company has both its fans and dissenters in the music community and media.

I have been using equipment from this company for over 30 years.  My early purchases were studio mixers and patch panels.  This company are one of the few companies that make a stereo studio mixer.  And those of you who are keyboard players know how difficult it is to get good stereo mixers for you mainly stereo synthesisers.

Over the years the company has acquired a number of well known brands and and created the Music Tribes community which also acts as the parent organisation for the brands that are owned by the company.

More recently I have acquired a RD-6, RD-8 and RD-9 machines together with the UB-Xa synthesiser.  All of which I have throughly enjoyed getting to know. And recently announced as being released the Wave and LM Drum.  Both developments I have been following.

And I am sure more equipment from this organisation is set to arrive in 2025.
