MUSE Research Inc
MUSE Receptor

Hardware VST Player

MUSE Research were a company that made a hardware VST player known to the world as the MUSE Receptor.

The Receptor came in 4 main flavours:

  • Receptor 1

  • Receptor 2, 2+

  • Receptor TRIO

  • Receptor Qu4ttro

With each flavour having sub models in the range.  Each flavour increased the power of the underlying computer platform that ran the Receptor operation system and hosted VST's.

The basic concept of the Receptor was to run a LINUX based personal computer that hosted commercial VST's releasing load from the controller keyboard or production DAW environment to run other audio processes.

It could also be used the way many artists use MainStage or other computer based VST players.

MUSE Research went bust (ceased trading) in 2015, leaving the artist user base to support each other independently.

Personally I love my Receptors, I currently own two of these.
