Roland MX-1
Mix Performer
Mixer (AIRA)

The Roland MX-1 Mix Performer was launched in 2015 as the DAWless mixer for the other ARIA products or the digital interface for the other AIRA product launched about the same time.  10 years later the exact purpose of this mixer is still unclear.

The Roland MX-1 mixer was billed as an 18 channel mixer, which was slightly misleading.  There are 18 channels, but these are split across multiple inputs (4 mono inputs, 1 Stereo, 1 Digital, 4 USB and 1 PC inputs).  This array of mixed input channels in my opinion made it difficult to deploy into standard use situations.

Many in the community, (including me,) have been eagerly waiting for Roland to update this mixer i..e create the Roland MX-2, a mixer with more inputs specifically more USB inputs, specifically USB inputs that can support and power not only Roland AIRA instruments but the Roland Boutique instruments too.  This would require a much beefier power supply as the current version for the MX-1, at 800mA, is not enough to achieve this requirement.

I have used the Roland MX-1 as an extension mixer to my standard studio mixer, as a digital interface and just as a mixer for a number of ARIA instruments and synths including my Roland Jupiter-80 which can occupy 1 of the 4 USB interfaces (assuming you are on the latest firmware).
